Home Perthshire Hill Rally
Perthshire

The Scottish "Perthshire" Hill Rally.

It is a true "Multi-Stage, Multi-Venue" rally - where competitors are required to drive from one Special Stage to another along the public highway.

Don't let the name fool you - This is a proper Rally: this requires endurance from both drivers and vehicles. It has been likened to the European Rally Raid events, or the American Endurance races.

This is a true team event: Driver and Navigator have to work together to clear the stages cleanly and safely. The Driver must complete the special stages as fast as possible, whilst being sympathetic to both vehicle & crew. The Navigator is instrumental in guiding the driver along the Road Sections, and the Service Crew will have to work hard to keep the vehicles in tip-top condition with the restricted servicing times.

"You cannot with the Perthshire on your own, but you can lose it for your team."

Running since 1996, this unique event is the only event in the UK that requires Cross Country vehicles to be Road Legal.

2010 Scottish Perthshire Hill Rally Cancelled

E-mail Print PDF

It is with deep regret that the organisers of the Scottish Perthshire Hill Rally have to announce the cancellation of the 2010 event. The number of paid entries received by the closing date is  significantly short of the minimum number required to run the event.

We are extremely greatful to all those who helped promote and sponsor the event, and to those who have submitted entries. We would like to recognise the support that the competitors have given us, and thus will return the full entry fee, and waive the administration fee given in the the regulations.

Competitors have be given the opportunity to transfer their entries (and entry fee) to the Borders Hill Rally, and placed at the front of the queue. Once entries open, the club will refund the difference, again without an admin fee.

[Competitors wishing to transfer their entry to the Borders must have informed Janis (entries (at) scottish-hillrally.co.uk) before Tuesday 29th June else we will be assumed they want their money back.]

On a personal note, I would like to thank all those who have put in an awful lot of time, effort (and, in some cases, money) to helping create this unique event.

BBC ALBA looking to Film the Perthshire

E-mail Print PDF

Eyeline Media Ltd is a production company based in Aberdeen.  They have contacted us regarding a series they produce for BBC ALBA called Air an Rathad ( On the Road). Nominated for a Celtic Media Award, ‘On the Road’  is Scotland’s only car series.  BBC ALBA quotes figures of almost 700,000 viewers over a weekly period. Air an Rathad is one of it’s most popular programmes, and was the highest viewed Gaelic programme on the BBC i-player last year with over 27,000 plays.

The programme features cars in the stunning Scottish scenery, so also attracts non-Gaelic viewers, and is subtitled.  The series is aimed at car enthusiasts , it includes car reviews, rallies and events taking place in Scotland.  Here is a link to  give you a taste of what they do:

http://www.eyeline-media.co.uk/preview/alf/preview.html

They have two primary interests when it comes to making this work:

They want to show:

  1. that the event is open to all, and that it doesn't take a huge amount of time, effort, and money to be able to enter and have fun, and
  2. lots of different vehicles, from the Standard Production vehciles right through to the home-made Specials.... and everything in between.
  3. interviews -- so who speaks Gaelic & wants to be on TV?

The really great thing is that all the BBC programs become available via the BBC web-site, and the BBC have a policy of making everything available for the long term :)
