Media Release

The Scottish Hill Rally Club has been keeping a very close eye on the guidance from Scottish Government and Motorsport UK during the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

We fully understand and would encourage all our members, competitors, marshals and officials to heed the current advice and fully support the closedown of motorsport till at least the end of June 2020.

However, this does not stop us dreaming about Cross Country motorsport!

With this in mind the Organising Committee are keeping in touch with our landowners about the possibility of a Short Course Comp Safari in Galashiels in the middle of August. This would only happen if the official advice allowed it and assuming all Social Distancing requirements could be met. It would also be fully dependent on making sure sufficient medical cover could be provided without detracting in any way from the NHS.

We are still working at being able to run the Scottish “Borders” Hill Rally on the 21st & 22nd of November 2020.

Normally at this time of year Vicky would be out doing route surveys, Rupert would be writing regulations, Helen would be contacting competitors, Ron would be booking Rescue and Recovery units, John would be pulling together all the stage furniture that will be required, Dean would be starting to chat up the Marshals, Campbell would be twisting Set Up Crew’s arms and many others doing many other tasks. These are all still happening! Quietly, in the back ground, from the comfort of our sofa’s during this period of lockdown. We are all ready to spring in to action as soon as we can get an official go ahead.

At the Scottish Hill Rally Club we realise life is currently full of frustration and restriction, but with patience we will race again!
